I recently asked my followers what they struggle with the most when planning their photo sessions. Some answers cracked me up (thank you for the laughs!), but the most common response was posing, followed closely by scheduling. So, I thought I’d share some posing tips based on what I’ve learned over the years!

As your photographer, I’m here to guide you through different poses that best communicate the message you want to convey and the vibe you’re aiming for. In the meantime, here are a few examples to show you what traditional Corporate Headshots can look like:

Turn one shoulder slightly towards the camera (not straight on), go for solid colors, keep your eyes on the camera, and flash a friendly smile!

Here’s another option! You can go for 1/2, 3/4, and full-body shots (perfect if you booked a branding session!). This allows for more creativity and gives business owners the chance to feel more comfortable while showing a relaxed or playful vibe. It’s a great way to communicate a more personal touch! Sit, stand, or lean against a wall—whatever feels best! Use your hands and arms to frame your body and create some fun triangles. And don’t forget to smile with your eyes! 😊

Sitting, Candid Laugh and Over the Shoulder: Sit comfortably on a chair or bench, with one leg crossed over the other or feet flat on the ground. Keep your back straight but relaxed, and place your hands on your lap or resting on the back of the chair. A relaxed smile or thoughtful gaze makes this pose feel inviting. Get in a natural moment by looking off to the side or tilting your head slightly, as if you just caught something funny. Let out a real laugh or smile—this will capture genuine emotion and make the shot feel effortless.

I hope these tips help you feel ready for your next photoshoot! And if you can, try practicing in front of a mirror—it’s a fun way to get the hang of the poses and will make you feel even more comfortable when it’s time for the real deal! 😊

Ciao! Patty
